INTIMIDATION ... so you can see already that this goes way beyond most talk about HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS.
What the Power & Language material covers addresses what professional linguists call Pragmatics - not a fuzzy conversation about what language "is" ... but a direct discussion about what language does.
Joseph has been studying the application of language ... and by this he means the total sphere of Human Communication:
This material covers the whole range of human interaction and the effect of these interactions on the individuals impacted by them. Everyone impacted by these interactions would be included, both those individuals who are present to the interactions and those who are effected at a distance.
For instance Joseph often speaks to the concepts of dominance and submission in human interaction. Another idea you may come across would be the values and value hierarchies in human relations. Any topic or concept that address the way people interact and the outcomes of these interactions would be "fair game" for Power & Language.
